I’m so excited to have Brand Strategist Amber Griffiths on the show this week. She is founder of Your Brand By Design.

We talked about being so authentically you that everything you offer feels like an extension of yourself.

Amber’s been in the branding and marketing business for over 22 years, and she still absolutely loves it!
“There is nothing about my schedule that makes me tired. That is because I’ve created a brand that expresses my actual personality. It’s my real persona coming through and because of that I’m attracting only people who light me up!”
She says, “When you create a brand that truly reflects who you are in the world, that’s your voice getting out there. We get to hear it. Now more than ever. Everyone gets to share their genius with the world. That’s why I do what I do!”
Amber emphasizes one of the main pillar’s in her work is a person’s persona.
She says all of the elements that make up a brand, the visual, the language the mannerisms are great, but she says, “I don’t buy from you just because I can see you. I stick with you and continue to buy from you because I can feel you. That’s your persona coming through!”
She says one of the most important pieces of correspondence in your marketing and messaging is your order confirmation email. That is one of the only times you get to celebrate your clients decision to work with you, to welcome them into your space and community.
And that first email, should be all about them. It’s like when you welcome someone into your home. You don’t go around your house pointing out all of the things you’ve done to your house. No! You welcome them, you make sure they have what they need and that they are comfortable.
That’s how your order confirmation email should be. It should reflect your persona, your story that should be throughout your messaging.
“If it is something you are sharing on your first call with your clients then it should be showing up throughout your messaging.
The vocabulary you use is so important! Your persona in your messaging is an indicator of what matters to you, and your ideal client gets to see if it aligns with what matters to them.
What you are really doing is building a relationship with your ideal client. The customer wants to be seen and felt. That’s what pulls them in. They aren’t clients just because they give you money. They become your clients when they start paying attention to you. If you only focus on the money then it’s just a transaction.
“If you ignore the book ends of that cash exchange, you’re ignoring ⅔ of the relationship you’re building,” Amber says.
You have to be considerate of the customer journey. At any given point they are making a decision to come into your space. They get to choose and you have to meet them where they are.
The client wants to be seen and they want to see you. They want to know that your persona is consistent throughout your messaging and when they speak to you on the phone, it’s going to be like reading your sales page or reading one of your emails.
There is no wrong answer to what you share when it comes to your persona and messaging as long as the content reflects you unapologetically.
Amber’s advice on being authentically ourselves?
“If it’s a thing that lights you up, you should turn it up to 11.”
Whether it’s Dunkin Donuts coffee or pickles, let it be known that’s what you’re about.
